Marazion and Loe Pool

A couple of images from Saturday and Monday, harsh lighting one day and dull lighting on the next lol. Despite the light being rubbish for photography is was still good to see the cattle egrets flying into roost (think there were 16 in total). Bonus also seeing the Kingfisher and Roe Deer.

RNLI Penlee Lifeboat Night Exercise

With about 40 minutes notice of a night exercise with the Penlee Lifeboat and Newquay Coastguard Helicopter I made my way to Newlyn to photograph the event if possible. Well the RNLI duly dispatched the lifeboat on time and the helicopter was closing, when it suddenly did a u-turn to return to base due to impending heavy fog at Newquay airport.  So that was that end of exercise before it started lol (still happens a lot with aviation stuff) . So here are a couple of images from the evening:

Helston and Marazion

Popped down to Helston and grabbed a shot of the Iceland Gull then went on to Marazion, 30 seconds earlier setting up at the eastern end of the marsh and I would of had a close up shot of the Bittern in flight, still managed to grab a shot before it disappeared into the reed bed. Grey Herons nest building, a shoveler and a Little Egret were my only other pictures. We really need a long cold spell with some snow/ice, lol

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

When the Sun, Earth and Moon all align almost one-behind-another, a penumbral lunar eclipse occurs. Clear skies in Helston, Cornwall allowed me to capture some images although some cloud did try to scupper my efforts around 23:00pm
As the Earth blocks the Sun, sunlight fails to illuminate the Moon’s surface properly.
In this instance,  a slight shadow cast over the surface of the full Moon, which is known as the penumbra. Images in this sequence were taken at 21:12pm, 00:08 am and 00:37am

Hayle, St Erth and Marazion

A fairly good day weather wise little wind and some sun, managed to get around a bit. Witnessed a grey Heron struggling for an hour to swallow a large fish that he stole off some carrion crows, got the avocet at Hayle a little closer, followed by a Cattle Egret at St Erth. The cattle egret was a little awkward due to the sun intensity at times but did manage some ok images. Rounded off the day with a Roe deer at Marazion.

Avocet at Hayle

Quick visit to Hayle (Ryans Field) to see if I could get some reasonable shots of the Avocet. Just managed some record shots only before the bird was spooked by gulls and flew over the other side to the estuary.

F35B Lightning

This post features the F35B Lightning, (Kittyhawk 1/48) I decided this had to be anything but grey, so bit of black/white and a cat added to the grey along with some RN markings from 736 squadron. Model building not being one of my strong points the build was passed to Ian McInnes who did a superb piece of work. #F35B #Lightning #KittyhawK

Marazion and Hayle

Well the doomsday storm forecast in the media failed to turn into anything significant, no surprise there. So after the alleged storm had cleared I ventured to Hayle and Marazion hoping to get images of the Avocet. Failed on that one as it was to distant, did get a spoonbill though and a couple of others in the challenging light. Here are the pictures:
