F-15E Strike Eagles in Low Flying Area 7 (Mach Loop)

A quick day visit to LFA7 produced a 4 ship flight of F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath. A short ascent up CAD East and I found a position sheltered from the ice cold winds on the day. Had some superb passes from a four ship flight of  F-!5E Strike Eagle aircraft. Visit to LFA7 in May 2019

With an RAF ban on Typhoons and non UK based aircraft in The Mach Loop, it was going to be difficult to get a huge amount of low fly images. On the plus side the USAF were still using the Mach Loop and other areas of LFA7. Even manged to get a pair of F-16 Falcon aircraft down the A5 pass. So a producitive visit considering the dwindling use of the LFA7 at present.

United States Navy F-18 Super Hornets in the Low Fly Structure

Four USN F-18 aircraft lead by two F-15 aircraft took the opportunity to use LFA7 for some low flying training. The aircraft from USS Harry S Trueman were hosted by RAF Lakenheath for a short time before re-embarking to their ship. Light was very poor, compounded by a camera error on my part led to some high ISOs being used. Still is was an awesome sight/sound coupled with a callsign "Viper" and I did get some images, so here they are:

Mach Loop July 2018 visits

Two visits in July prior and post a few days at the Royal International Air Tattoo 2018. Idid pick my dates across July 4th, mistake as this was the USAF holiday for Independence day!!! So the week including the 4th 5th and 6th July  were very quiet in fact almost dead. The following week a couple of days before going to RIAT we had a visit from Canadian F18 x2, Canadion Hercules and a Czech Air Force Gripen so that was an excellent bonus. The week after RIAT was again fairly quiet but as usual enjoyable with good company on the hills and in the Red Lion.

Mach Loop March 2018

Another visit to the Mach Loop in March again a mixture of weather which curtailed photo opportunities, but on the plus side created some nice winter back drops. A visit to a slate mine was inaccessible on this occasion and an attempt to find an abandoned village failed. (both on the list for next time)  Nevertheless an enjoyable visit and more aviation photos in the bag. Here are some of the images:

First visit to the Mach Loop in 2018

Well results from my first visit in 2018 were a bit of a mixed bag, some good, some with snow, some days written off due to weather and a really good day due to weather!!!!! Which is what the Mach Loop is all about.
